RSEDIT FILE MANAGEMENT

PROGRAM DATA FILES

The RSEDIT is designed to pre-load all RS data saved in DAT files in editor’s folder when you start the program. The RS data was pulled from RS ROM and RAM and saved in designated files. This data is updated whenever you initiate Midi Data Receiving or successfully transmitting the data loaded from files. In the other words, if you use only RSEDIT to change data in RS-5/9 then the data in the editor will be the same as all data in your RS keyboard. That’s how it would be In the perfect world, but since you not expected to change RS patches and functions using only RSEDIT, it is a good idea to back up your custom sound arrangements from time to time in the separate files that could be recalled later. DAT files are included with the program setup and should not be altered. They contain raw sysex data of RS USER and PRESET banks. You do not have to be concern about those files - just do not delete them! If you delete DAT files you will have to run RS SoundEditor setup program again.

Since all RAM and ROM data is being pre-loaded to the editor the RSEDIT allows you to manipulate this data to perform many operations that are not possible to achieve by making standard editing using keyboard’s manual buttons and function.

SAVING RS FILES

Since all data is being pre-loaded in the editor you can save the data present in the editor into a file. In order to save the current data from your RS-5/9 keyboard you should first dump the keyboard data into the editor using ‘Receive Data’ functions. When you successfully receive the keyboard data via MIDI you can save it to a file using "Save RS Data" command that is located under window’s ‘File’ menu.

‘Save RS Data File" command opens the dialog that you can use to select what kind of RS data you wish to save:
