The Artis SoundEditor is a full-featured Editor/Librarian and Sound Development tool designed for Kurzweil Artis keyboards. SoundTower's Editor greatly expands the editing experience by displaying every editable Artis parameter in a series of logical, easy-to-use graphical interfaces. SoundEditor allows you to create, edit, organize and store Artis Programs, Multi, and Effects. Through a standard MIDI connection (DIN or USB), SoundEditor can receive and transmit individual Programs, Multi, Effects, or entire banks to the Artis.

The Artis series was originally developed and introduced to the market as a piano keyboard with a very limited editing capabilities. This has changed with the introduction of the Artis OS update 1.10. The Artis is equipped with a very similar sound engine as the PC3LE synthesizer and with the help from Kurzweil Music research group - YCRDI, we have designed the editing software that opens up many features of the PC3 engine for Artis users to enjoy. Unlike the PC3LE, the Artis does not offer much of editing on its front panel. You will be amazed what you can find inside this rather simple looking piano keyboard. To your surprise, you will be able to access and use many features that normally are not listed in Artis specifications. The editor will make possible for you to reach inside and unleash the amazing power of the Kurzweil sound technology.   

Please note! This editor is not a software instrument and it will produce no sounds unless connected with the Kurzweil ARTIS series keyboard.

SHORT OVERVIEW

The Artis is an incredibly deep and complex instrument with many programming options. SoundEditor has been designed to make the programming and editing process as simple and easy to use as possible while providing all of the functional control needed to adjust every parameter. A few of SoundEditor’s editing windows are shown below…

PROGRAM BANK

The Artis is a powerhouse of sound. There are 256 user programmable patches that are always available on 16 channels and 100’s more that the editor can make available via MIDI.access.

ARTIS PROGRAMS

Each Program can have up to 32 unique layers that can be spread over the keyboard range or particular keys. Layers can be added or imported from other Programs.

PROGRAM LAYERS

Every Program Layer can have 2 stereo keymaps (multisamples) assigned and routed through different DSP Algorithms and effects. Layers have their own sound envelopes, LFO’s, modulations and many other sound parameters.

ALGORITHM AND DSP CONTROLS

You can choose from 1024 Factory Algorithms and create another 1024 User Algorithms, all with different combination of blocks, input and output routings and  DSP function selection.

KURZWEIL KB3 INSTRUMENTS

KB3 Programs are unique instruments with a capacity to create organs, pads and incredible lead sounds.

EFFECT SYSTEM

A Master FX window provides a global view and control of the effect assignments on all 16 MIDI channels.

MULTI BANKS

Each Multi can consist of up to 4  Programs with individual MIDI channel and control assignments. Programs can be added or imported from other Multi.

PERFORMANCE MULTI

Each Program in a Multi can be customized with unique entry and exit values for physical controllers, Pan and Volume messages, Program Change messages, MIDI Bank Select messages, etc.

FX SYSTEM EDITING

The Editor lets you select and edit hundreds of factory FX Chains for inserts, AUX 1 and  2  and FX overrides.

PROGRAM CHANNEL MIXER

The Program Channel Mixer allows you to control Volume, Pan, FX, and other parameters for each Program assigned to the 16 MIDI channels.
